Have been listening to the new Wilco album. Lord knows what planet their old record company was on to disown it. It is excellent. If you don't believe me look here.
World cup finally started after all the shenanigans and phoney wars of recent weeks. Astonishingly, Senegal, playing their first ever game in the finals and with a team who no one even in their own families has heard of beat France 1-0. Yes France, the current European and World champions. Fantastic stuff.
Very good world cup blog here. Written by a yank but all the better for it, his enthusiasm just shines through and makes a fantastic change from the world weary cynicism of some British sites.
Have found another very good review of Wilco here. It also gives a bit of history.
A man and his dog, trying to make sense of it. A man trying to cook, while avoiding the dogs Cato like attempts to brain him. A man trying very hard not to complain about his working day. A man of no faith, who worships Birmingham City. A man who loves the sort of music that gets him labelled with bad words. .A dog with little brain but great appetite. Welcome to our world.. a world full of wife, children, cats and vegetables. A good world.

Darren Carter, aged 18 scores the final penalty to put Birmingham in the premier league, after a 16 year absence. Cue mayhem. Cue joy unconfined. 2 weeks later I still cant even look at this picture without becoming emotional. Christ knows when I will be able to look at the video, its all too much. That kid is a fan too, unimaginable. Oh to be young and talented

Contrary to all appearances I am not totally football fixated. I like music too and metafilter provided a route to the whole of "Alice" by Tom Waits being streamed.ANTI-
